SHOE BRUSH

“Anthropology never has had a distinct subject matter and because it doesn’t have a real method, there’s a great deal of anxiety over what it is”
– Clifford Geertz

I have studied Social Anthropology for three years. Within this time I have come to realise the confusion over what Anthropology is amongst, well, everyone. Friends, relatives, academics question your field of work and it is somewhat difficult to respond. The essence of anthropology is making the exotic mundane and the mundane exotic. In a sense, every object represents Anthropology and whilst it is difficult to articulate, for me this is the beauty of Anthropology.
